Fred M. Wong Fred is Co-Founder & Managing Director, Diamond TechVentures LLC. He joined Diamond TechVentures from BCD Semiconductor, a Shanghai manufacturer of analog and mixed signal IC, where he was the CEO. He brings a background with experience in joint venture companies from China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan to Europe. Prior to BCD, Fred was the Managing Partner at Investar Capital, Inc. a US$600M fund, which invested in over 150 portfolios companies with over 30 successful IPO’s. Investar Focus segments include semiconductor, telecommunication, display, MEMS, Equipment and materials. Fred headed the investments and joined the board of over 30 companies such OmniVision, Sirf Technolgy, Lightspeed, Tropian, MEMSIC and XaQti Semiconductor. Fred was also with Varian Associates in various capacities including working in the Semiconductor Equipment Business as the New Product Line General Manager generating more then $200 million in revenue with direct staff of over 60 people, and as the Applications Director providing strategic direction for product development. He also worked with United Technology / Mostek Corp as a Process Manager in the Advanced Process Development. Mr. Fred Wong success is also attributed to his role as the co-founder of RAPRO Technology in 1987, which merged with AG Associates in 1991. Fred is a graduate of Southern Methodist University Dallas, Texas with an MS and BS in Physics and MBA course work from the University of Dallas. In addition, he completed the executive MBA program at Stanford University. Fred currently sits on the board of GPT Inc, Mercury Technology, AneVileMu Venture Ltd, and Asian Business Association, Inc. |
